In order to lose weight, your carbohydrate intake needs to come from "whole grains". Whole grains are a great source of energy, B vitamins, and fiber. Avoid refined grain products such as white bread, white rice, and processed crackers.

Try to avoid saturated fats as much as possible and choose healthier fats such as monounsaturated fats. Saturated fats are filled with extra calories, and have been linked to heart disease and high cholesterol levels. Saturated fats should be eliminated from any good diet to lose body fat. Butter, high-fat cheeses, and red meats with lots of fat (prime rib) are all sources of saturated fats. Good sources of fat will come from olive and canola oils, margarine spreads, nuts, and "fatty" fish like mackerel and salmon.

The trick to losing fat is to make sure that some of your exercise three or four days a week includes aerobic activity. It definitely is possible to build muscle from lifting weights and still carry a fair amount of fat. True, muscle mass does help to reduce fat because it requires more energy to make it work. Men and Women can do similar exercise but with strength training you must start out slowly with light weight and repeat the exercises until the muscle starts to really feel it, usually 15 repetitions and then rest.

Hold light-medium weights and stand on the right foot with the left foot just behind you, resting on the toe.
Squat all the way down, touching the weights to the floor while keeping the back straight and the abs contracted.

Curl the weights( cans of soup) up in a biceps curl and then press the weights overhead as you push to a standing position.

On the upward movement, keep the emphasis on the right leg.

Lower the weights and repeat the move for 10-16 reps before switching sides.
Complete 1-3 sets.

Weight bearing exercises will reduce the amount of fat in your body and make the muscle in your body leaner and is one of the best ways to lose body fat
